Can Electrical Stimulation Rewire Neuropathy Recovery?

New research shows that not all e-stim is created equal. In a first-of-its-kind randomized controlled trial, direct current (DC) stimulation significantly outperformed TENS for diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN).

Study at a Glance

In just 6 weeks, participants treated with the Neubie® DC stimulation device experienced measurable and statistically significant improvements in:

  • Pain reduction
  • EMG measurements of nerve function like nerve conduction velocity and amplitude
  • Sensory function (vibration sense, two-point discrimination)
  • Overall neuropathy severity (TCNS)

TENS showed no significant improvements in any outcome measure.

This study included 150 participants across 13 physical therapy clinics in the United States. It was peer-reviewed, IRB-approved, and primary clinical measurements showed statistically significant improvements with the Neubie.
